Thoresby Estate. The "permitted walk, part 1."

Thoresby is steeped in history, but much of its well tended estate has been off limits for decades. Happily one can now access many scenic areas of interest therein. Of especial interest in this video is the Mill beside the River Meden. A mill operated on a "straight canal" here, linking Thoresby Hall with the Kennels, as long ago as the early 18th century. (See THIS LINK). One was still in operation here at the start of the 1920s to grind oats and corn for cattle feed.

Thoresby Estate Permitted Walk part 2 can be seen on THIS LINK.

UPDATE: Please be aware these videos showing Thoresby Estate's Permitted Walks were made in 2013. Most areas are still accessible. However, that part of the route alongside the River Meden is currently (2015) off limits due to subsidence. Also the route down to Thoresby Lake has sadly been fenced off for (so I'm told) privacy reasons.
